About Me

Hello and welcome to my design blog. My name is Ashlie and I am currently a design student in Orange County, California. As a kid and into high school I was mainly interested in the more tradition arts, drawing and painting and the like. And I admit, I was guilty of the mindset that graphic design is not art. So of course when it was suggested that I branch into graphic arts or even pursue a career in the field, I scoffed at the idea. But my senior year in high school I found myself in need of an elective and with few viable choices, leaving me cornered into a computer graphics class. It was hardly what anyone would consider real design, but I was hooked. I may never be a super star designer, but I love it anyway. And so, since that rudimentary class, I've studied graphic design off and on at Laguna College of Art and Design starting in 2004.

Of course life has it's way of throwing little bumps in the road, so I have yet to complete my degree and my skills have bee rather interrupted, but I think it's quite time I start taking steps toward real design experience. I decided to start this blog to use partly as a my own sort of design class room, a place to post design projects I've assigned myself, and partly as a way to hopefully branch out into the design world and do some networking.

I called the blog (and my hopefully budding design business) Twinkly Toes thinking of my daughter, Audrey. She's quite the girly girl and though it's not necessarily all I can do, my personal design style is pretty girly too. I've tried to suppress the girly-ness in favor of something "more sophisticated," but in the end, I've decided to just embrace it. Stick with what inspires you and what you're good at, right?

Well, that's me in a nutshell. Guess time will tell how successful this blogging thing turns out to be. Hope someone out there enjoys it!
